Aagrama is a village-based development exercise by Vision 2040. Membership of Aagrama Samaja is open to anyone above 18 years of age living in the village. The approach is mainly for monetary aid for small businesses, cultivation, cottage industries and other ventures. The idea is to support the villagers with finances, mentoring and knowhow as the procedures in the banks are very tough, less supportive and non-comprehensive.
The Aagrama Samaja are self-ruled, small units that support the needs of the team members; those who get the financial aid are entitled to pay a nominal interest for the respective amounts they obtained. Through this mechanism their reserve will slowly grow, and the village will have sufficient funds at some point to manage their own affairs Every Aagrama unit needs to have a clear and robust plan to handle the finances, and a representative of Vision 2040 will oversee finances of Aagrama to ensure transparency and proper utilisation of their funds.
